Conjunctions are linking words like and, or, but, then and because:

The conjunctions but and although/though connect ideas that contrast. Whereas is also used but it is not as common:

And is a coordinating conjunction. We use and to connect two words, phrases, clauses or prefixes together:

Before is a preposition, an adverb and a conjunction. Before means earlier than the time or event mentioned:

We use both to refer to two things or people together:

But is a conjunction.

Either… or… connects two choices:

If is a conjunction.
📄️ In order to
In order to is a subordinating conjunction.
📄️ Or
Or is a conjunction that connects two or more possibilities or alternatives. It connects words, phrases and clauses which are the same grammatical type:

We use since as a preposition, a conjunction and an adverb to refer to a time, and as a conjunction to introduce a reason.
📄️ That\-clauses
We use that as a conjunction to link a verb, adjective or noun with the following clause.
📄️ Whereas
We use the conjunction whereas to indicate a contrast between two facts or ideas:

Whether is a conjunction.
📄️ While and whilst
While or whilst?

Yet is an adverb or conjunction.
